Forks, WA

My goddaughter is on her way to Alaska by way of the west coast. She stopped in Forks, WA. Some of you may know that town. It is the town where Twilight is set in. She went to all the tourist stops, cafe, police station, high school, La Push beach. She sent me this picture which was actually in Twilight!! She also went to Port Angeles and went to the restaurant where they filmed Bella and Edward having dinner, the bookstore where Bella went and also the theater. I can't wait to see the pictures.

Eclipse Again II

My best friend is in town visiting her father and we are getting together for dinner and a movie. She wants to see Eclipse so I couldn't say no. So yes I am seeing it yet again. It should be a fun night!!

When In Rome - movie

We watched When in Rome last night. It was a cute movie. I like anything with Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel. The story was good. The scenery was beautiful - especially in Rome. I would give it a try!

The Ropes- Love Is A Chain Store

I happened upon this band and song and loved it. Give it a listen!!

In the Spotlight - Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and film historian. Mr. Scorsese is widely considered to be one of the most significant and influential American filmmakers of his era, directing such films such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas - all of which he collaborated on with actor and close friend Robert DeNiro.

Did you know that he has been married five times? One of his wives was Isabella Rossellini.

He also directed New York, New York with Liza Minnelli. Because New York New York did not do well it drove Scorsese into a depression and also by this time a serious cocaine habit. It was Robert DeNiro that pulled him out of that and asked him to do Raging Bull. He threw himself into that movie calling it a Kamikaze method of film-making

He did eight movies with his good friend Robert DeNiro.

In the 1990s came Goodfellas, Cape Fear, The Age of Innocent, and Casino. In the 2000s came the Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and Departed. In 2010 he made Shutter Island.

He is truly one of the most influential film makers today. I have always enjoyed his movies.

Favorite TV Shows when you were younger

What were your favorite TV shows when you were younger. Some of mine were The Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Happy Days, Dallas, Bob Newhart, Room 222, Mod Squad. I especially loved the Brady Bunch and Partridge Family. You knew where to find me on a Friday night - right in front of the TV for those shows. To this day I still watch a rerun or two of the Brady Bunch if it is on television.

Button Necklaces

Here is another handmade necklace from Martha Stewart using buttons. (I love buttons - any kind, any color).

Tools and Materials:
Abalone-shell or pink mother-of-pearl buttons,Beading string, cut to 40 inches, Crimp bead, Necklace closure, Needle-nose pliers

Fold the string in half, and create an end by tying two slipknots 2 inches down from the fold. Slip a button on one string. Tie another slipknot 1 inch from the previous knot. Repeat until you have 12 buttons on the string. (Sophie makes five strands for her necklace, but you can make as many or few as you like.) Trim the ends (not the looped end) 2 inches from the last knot. Gather all the ends together, and crimp in a crimp bead. Attach the necklace closure using a pair of needle-nose pliers.

Handmade Jewerly & Accessories

I just found this on Martha Stewart Website - Bracelet Into Belt (Aren't they beautiful-I am sure we all have some bracelets that are just lying around)

This waist-defining stunner -- perfect for holiday parties -- was created by looping satin ribbon through a hole in the filigree at each end of a bracelet. To make your own, choose a bracelet with ring clasps or openwork through which you can easily thread a strap (satin or grosgrain work well). The bracelet should also have a bit of heft, so you won't risk breaking it every time you laugh. Take it with you to the fabric store when selecting ribbon so you can gauge the right thickness and color.

Summer TV Watching

During the summer the tv shows are really slim pickings. Have you found any new shows to watch? I have been watching on demand The Good Wife with Juliana Margulies( from ER) and Chris Noth (from Sex and the City). I started watching this show last September when it first came out but it is on at 10:00 p.m. and I usually go to bed around that time so I didn't watch it. We have watched four shows. I really like it. The premise is about a state's attorney (I know who you are thinking of) who has been jailed after a very public sex and corruption scandal. The wife has to go back to work as a litigator to support her two children. It is mostly about her family and different cases she works on and also her husband getting out of jail. We really enjoyed it. You should take a look.

The other show we watched is Royal Pains on USA Network about a young E.R. doctor who, after being wrongly blamed for an important patient's death, moves to the Hamptons and becomes a reluctant "doctor for hire" to the rich and famous. When the administrator of the local hospital asks him to treat the town's less fortunate, he finds himself walking the line between doing well for himself and doing good for others. the ER doctor has a brother and they live in the guest house of one of his rich patients. Their father is played by Henry Winkler (The Fonz from Happy Days).
It is quite good and you also get to see how the other half lives. Check it out.
